Blue Angel
by Bijou Classics
As the title suggests, this Paladin Studios release is an allegorical look at the cabaret performers of 1930's Berlin through the present day setting of a well-known San Francisco cinema. This cinema features male dancers who masturbate on stage. Five performers do solo turns mixed into an ongoing narration about sexual politics and crosscut with both sexual fantasies and nightclub reality. City officials, wearing swastika armbands, are present at the closing night of the nightclub to make sure none of the action gets too hot. Inside the club, a bunch of sexy men perform their final strips for an appreciative and very "hard" audience.
The performers, including Brad Mason, Bosch Wagner and Grant Harrison, are all dark-haired hunks with sweaty bodies and dicks for days. Some men get off on the fantasy while others imagine bedding the more attractive patrons. Dancer Tom West has an especially erotic scene in which he, nude and hard, kneels before a man in the audience and the two jerk their giant dicks at a furious pace.
The film works well on several levels, especially in the context of a message that master-of-ceremonies Mackenzie Poe relates on the parallels between Hitler-era Germany and the state of gay people in America today. An cutting edge film attempting to reveal the changes, and need for change, in attitudes about gay sexuality.
